Spring to do list… March 14, 2012
This Spring, take a few moments to evaluate some spaces around your
house that you use everyday- your countertops. Ask yourself: when was
the last time I cleaned my butcherblock countertop or resealed my
granite? If you can't remember, or if it was more than a year ago,
it's time to get it done!
Butcherblock can be cleaned with Murphy's Oil Soap, simply follow the
directions on the container. Then, apply a light coat of mineral oil
to the tops. If there is a buildup of grime, you can scrape the tops
clean with a paint scraper. If there are deeper scratches and gouches,
you can hire a professional- we will sand down the wood surface and
reseal it for you.
For granite, you can buy a spray-on sealer- you can purchase this at
your local hardware store. Follow the directions on the container, and
wipe off to reveal shiny countertops, sealed and protected. If it
still looks dull, you might need the help of a professional- we can
help buff, polish and seal your granite or marble until it looks as
good as new!
